The First Debate

Mitt Romney is a decent debater. I must give him that. He did well.

The president stood his ground.

I did not watch it live, but thanks to the New York Times, I was able to watch it all on YouTube a few hours later. I was hoping to watch and tweet it live. Oh well.

There was not a clear winner. I guess most people stayed with who they were with before the debate began. That piles up the pressure on the future debates.

America is not about to see a dramatic uptick to its economy. Because I don't see a second stimulus on the horizon. The tax cuts in the first stimulus were a mistake. All that money should have been actively spent. The center piece of the stimulus needed to be about taking every American to gigabit broadband era.

It will be a close election, but Obama will win.

8.3% Is Not 38%

A lot of people just can't fathom how much worse things could have been. The Great Recession could have become the second Great Depression. There was a good chance. Obama prevented that from happening.

I also wish to see the unemployment rate go down to something like 5.3%. You get there by giving Barack Obama the House.

Call It

Truth be told the only thing Barack Obama ever needed to do for me was win in 2008. And win he did. Twice.

Truth be told I never really gave a flying fuck about the economy, the recession, the deficit, the debt, the defense budget, Planned Parenthood, Social Security, Medicare, the space program. He could have messed up everything two times over and I would have still been for him. But he did not.

This dude is destined for greatness.

I am Barack Obama's first full time volunteer in New York City and I love the guy as much as ever. He has my full support, plus some more.

America And Europe Need To Learn From Japan

One of a number of posters created by the Econ...Image via WikipediaAmerica and Europe have been going through for two years what Japan has been going through for two decades, and so far America and Europe have been trying the same remedies that have not worked to get Japan out of its flunk.

For one there are no domestic remedies. America alone can not do it. Europe alone can not do it. Japan alone can not do it. The three economic giants of the past half century - America, Europe and Japan - have to come together and launch a global "Marshall Plan" and that is the only way out of this flunk. They should put together a trillion dollars each and create a pot of three trillion dollars. The biggest chunk of this money should go to connect every human being on the planet to broadband. This is Barack Obama's option to go to the moon.

We lack the data for the biggest problems in the world today.
  1. A three trillion dollar global "Marshall Plan" to last a decade.
  2. Universal broadband it's key component.
  3. Other infrastructure projects.
  4. A new global financial architecture.
  5. Universal education, health and credit.

The Bush Tax Cuts: Why There Are No Jobs In America

No BushImage via WikipediaCreating jobs is no rocket science. The entrepreneurs in the private sector do it. But people in DC can get in the way in a major way. And they have been doing it. The single biggest reason why America does not have the jobs it needs would be the Bush tax cuts.

I am for a small, efficient government. Heck, I am a tech entrepreneur, I want the government out of my face as much as possible. And cutting taxes is one way to achieve that goal of small government. But you have to create surpluses first.

You don't engage in a trillion dollar war in Iraq a-n-d spend another trillion dollars on tax cuts with borrowed money. That is like saying the small government agenda in America is China's responsibility.

The single best thing DC can do to create jobs is to balance the budget. And so getting rid of the Bush tax cuts is going to have to be the center piece of the Obama 2012 effort. If you want to keep the Bush tax cuts, vote for someone else, vote for Arizona Palin, or whoever. Because Barack Obama is for eliminating the irresponsible Bush tax cuts and creating jobs for the American people.

Americans Are Fat

Michelle Obama, official White House portrait.Image via WikipediaThe obesity epidemic in America more than anything symbolizes what is wrong with this country, and how it has gotten itself off the tracks. Michelle Obama more than any other single person in this country has managed to hit the nail on the head, although her efforts need some major scaling.

The obesity epidemic in America and the debts and deficits as far as the eyes can see are both deeply correlated. A people that can not eat right are not capable of voting for elected officials who can make the right decisions for them in public matters like the budget.

Michelle Obama Is Just Fabulous

The trimming of the national budget has to start with the voters' waistlines.

The number one reason the job market in America is so bleak is because the national budget is out of control. You erase the deficit and you will start creating jobs. And both parties have been focused on the tiny slivers of the budget. I mean, come on, if defunding Planned Parenthood might have balanced the budget even I might have supported the move.

You balance the budget by looking at the military budget. You take one hard look at the entitlement programs. And the Bush tax cuts are so very offensive. The Bush tax cuts are probably the number one reason why there are not plentiful jobs in America.

Barack Is Going To Need Me All Over Again

HONOLULU - DECEMBER 23: U.S. President-elect...Image by Getty Images via @daylifeBarack is going to need me all over again during his re-election bid, and I am going to be there for him. Barack needed me in his run for the presidency. And he is going to need me all over again. I will be there for him in his hour of need.

I maintain the hunger of someone who was forced to skip the victory parties of June 2008 and November 2008, and felt Inauguration 2009 simply pass him by. I missed the celebrations. I stayed hungry.

I am going to bring that hunger to the table for Barack all over again.

I stopped being a Democrat. I became an Independent. I am an Independent for Barack. And I am going to be there for him.
