Except on gay marriage. His stance on gay marriage to me is like he wants to snatch away voting rights from blacks. And for that one stand, I have to dismiss everything else he might stand for. And it is a political disagreement.

But I never thought any less of his Indian heritage just because he converted. There are plenty of Christians who are Indian citizens in India. You don't have to be Hindu to be Indian, in India. Why should the rules be any different in America, of all places?

It is a basic democratic ethos that other people might have different opinions. I am a progressive. Bobby is a conservative. And we both are just fine. But I must admit, Bobby has made me take a second look at some pretty hard core conservative positions. As in, really? You feel that way? That is your worldview? Really? I guess the conditioning being, in America, if you are brown like Bobby, you are very likely to be on the other side.

I have also been fascinated that Bobby is smart, and successful. I mean, Louisiana, of all places. The most famous politician out of that state used to be David Duke, I think, a flaming racist. How can Louisiana throw up someone of Bobby's looks? That is progressive progress.

When he says he is proud of his Indian heritage, but he wants Americans to be just Americans, how is that any different from progressives saying everyone in America should be treated as equals regardless of race? Race being the topic it is, sticky, it is not the kind of reactions that will surface, it is more that he even bothered talking about it.

My political perspective is, after getting hit by the truck called Donald Trump, a lot of Republicans might welcome that Bobby has now announced. Trump is the opposite of gravitas. Bobby is all wonky and stuff. That is a counterbalance.

But like I said, on Bobby I am a one issue dude. You are opposed to gay marriage? You are out. That is a civil rights issue. Too bad, because on many other issues, even when I might disagree, I think Bobby has some well thought out, well reasoned arguments that would make for good political ping pong.

Some Indians attacking Bobby sound like blacks who attacks blacks who read, as if reading is too white. What's white?

As for 2016, we have had a brown/black guy, now it is a woman's turn to step in. Hillary will out wonk Bobby, hands down. When I say Bobby is smart, it is a relative term. He is smart in a party of stupid.

An Indian origin person becoming a serious candidate for President Of The United States, that is a lot of pride for Indians in India. They will not care what Bobby says. He might get a lot of social media love from afar.

As for his chances, I don't know, it is tough. Hillary is going to beat whoever. But will Bobby make it to the ring? Right now the bet is on Jeb Bush, right? But I like how Bobby said, it is White House or bust. I like that attitude. Maybe he wants to run, and then go into the private sector. Or go into the US Senate later? Or maybe correct himself on gay marriage and run again later? I mean, he is young. He will still be young in 2024. One term in the US Senate might be a good preparation. I don't think anyone has been both Governor and Senator before running for president.

How is his record in Louisiana? I mean the economic record. How is the state faring?

Democracy's Contemporary Challenge

What is known as the War On Terror is very real, but a tussle that has not been given a name yet is not any less real. The three biggest wars of the previous century were democracy versus opposing ideologies that all tended towards autocracy. The two contemporary simultaneous tussles are similar. It is democracy versus the rest. America, Europe, India and Japan are hugely diverse cultures. But they all have political structures that are similar and can be described as democracies. That is not true of ISIS territory, that is not true of Russia, China, Pakistan, North Korea.

There is no avoiding the tussle, but it need not be bloody. The cheapest and the least bloody way might be funding Elon Musk's idea of satellite internet. The only way these two tussles conclude is when democracy wins, and the law of political entropy says you need to beam down the internet from the skies into these hostile territories.

Both Russia and Pakistan hold periodic elections. But they are not democracies.

India with its large Muslim population could play a key role for a major spread of democracy across the Arab/Muslim world. That makes India the new Britain, America's number one ally. And it is India that shares a border with China, not Japan or America or Europe, not to say thousands of years of history.

In Pakistan, the Pakistan Army and the ISI (curiously missing one letter S) run like parallel governments. That is not a democracy's structure.

India Agenda: 100 World Class Universities

A world class university is one where the best students from all over the world compete to come and attend. India needs 100 smart cities and more, but it also needs 100 world class universities. Sooner the better. इस के लिए Global NRI Community में fundraising करो। कि लो विदेश रह के पैसे बहुत कमाए, अब अपने माँ बाप के नाम डिपार्टमेंट्स खड़े करो,  माँ बाप का नाम रोशन करो, मरने के बात पैसा अपने साथ कौन ले जाता है? लेकिन माँ बाप का  नाम रौशन भाग्यवाणी लोग ही करते हैं।

जैसे बिल गेट्स को देखो कैसे पैसे ऐंठता है ---- आप billionaire हो, आधा पैसा अपने पास रख लो, बाँकी के मेरे फाउंडेशन को दे दो। ऐसे बोलता है। मोदी जो दुनिया भर मटरगश्ती करते हैं, तो उस  में एक आइटम होने चाहिए डिनर। सबसे धनवान NRIs को प्राइवेट डिनर पे बुलाओ और पैसे ऐंठो। भारत के जो designated 100 world class universities होंगे उनको endowment pledge करने वालो को ही दावत पर बुलाई जाएगी, औरो को नहीं। कमसेकम १० मिलियन प्लेज करो और सुपरस्टार रॉकस्टार मोदी के साथ भोजन करो, अपने माँ बाप का नाम रौशन करो। आप पैसे दो, आप के माँ बाप के नाम से बिल्डिंग्स बनेंगे, डिपार्टमेंट्स को नाम दिया जायेगा, कुर्सियां बनेंगे।

दुनिया बदल गया है। भारत को १००% high school graduates का देश बनना होगा। स्कुल तो बनाओ ही, हवा में FM हाई स्कुल भी बनाओ। और उसके बाद अहम रोल है MOOCs का --- Massively Open Online Courses. अभी जमाना ऐसा है अगर आप के पास ब्रॉडबैंड है तो कॉलेज में तो दाखिला ही दाखिला है। इंटरनेट अपने आप में कॉलेज है। और उस education infrastructure के ऊपर सबसे टॉप स्टूडेंट्स इन १०० world class universities में पढ़ें। नोबेल पुरस्कार पाने वाले काम करें। Industries of tomorrow dream up करें।

१५% Growth Rake कैसे Achieve करें

आडवाणी प्रधान मंत्री हुवे होते तो मैं कहता, भैया आप ५% ही दे दो वही काफी है, क्यों कि आप Hindu Rate Of Growth (2-3%) के ज़माने के लोग हो। मौनमोहन सिंह लौट के आ जाते फिर तो मैं कहता, आप ने ९ तो पहले दे ही दिया अब १० दे के दिखाओ। लेकिन चुँकि बात नरेन्द्र (rhymes with Paramendra) मोदी की है, और ये जनाब १५ साल तो राज करेंगे ही, योग करते रहे और सेहत ठीक रखे तो २० भी जा सकते हैं। तो इनको तो १५% तक जाना है। वो कैसे?

७-७.५% तो अभी हो गया। वो creative accounting से ---- अरुण जेटली जी का जो Goods And Services Tax Bill है, उसको पास करो तो Growth Rate में २% तक add हो जावेगी (कपिल शर्माका शब्द) ---- कितना हुवा? ९% हुवा। और मैं GST Bill को बड़े गौर से देख रहा हुँ। इस पर Opposition वालों को भी yes बोलना है।

सोलर पावर से आप जितने सौ गीगावाट बिजली पैदा करो ग्रोथ रेट में उसका सीधा असर पड़ेगा। १०० गीगावाट से १% ---- वो तो कर लिया। ५०० गीगावाट करो तो ५% -- तो ९ और २ अगर ११ तो ९ और ५ कितना? १४% .

बाँकी के १? नीतिश को कहो बिहार को २०% पर ले जाए --- ताकि राष्ट्रिय औसत कमसेकम १% और बढ़ जाए। नीतिश १६ पहले ही कर चुके हैं। १६ कर सकते हैं तो २० भी कर सकते हैं।

प्रत्येक १००,००० किलोमीटर रोड बनाने से १% add होती जाएगी। प्रत्येक भारतीय तक अगर ब्रॉडबैंड पहुँचा दो तो उससे २% और add हो जाएगी। भारत और बंगलादेश के बीच जैसा normalization है वो अगर पाकिस्तान और भारत के बीच हो जाए तो उससे २% और add हो जाए।

GST Bill तो भारत के भितर के लिए है ----- दुनिया भर trade agreement कर कर के market expand करते रहो। अफ्रिका बहुत promising है। युरोप, अमेरिका, जापान, चीन।

१५% Growth Rate कैसे Achieve करें? मैंने बात वहाँ से शुरू कि। मेरे को लग रहा है दो साल और लगेगा १०% तक पहुँचने में। वहाँ से १५% तक पहुँचने में उसके बाद ५ साल लग सकते हैं। उसके बाद शायद २० भी संभव हो जाये। सोलर पावर से १,००० गीगावाट बिजली पैदा कर लो तो शायद २०% growth rate भी संभव है। Move aside Saudi Arabia, we have Rajasthan. सुर्य प्रणाम हम वैसे नहीं करते हैं, बहुत सोंच समझ के करते हैं।

Education और Health बहुत मायने रखती है ------ वहां क्युबा से बहुत कुछ सिखा जा सकता है। नीतिश से भी।

अगर प्रत्येक भारतीय टॉयलेट प्रयोग करने लगे तो उससे जो health expenses कम होंगे उससे GDP growth rate में नहीं ज्यादा तो २% तो मदत होना ही है। इस तरह बिमारियाँ ना फैले।

भारत के लोगों के पास जितना सोना है उस सबको financial system में लाओ तो उससे २% ----- बहुत सोना है भारत में। लेकिन सोना घर पे सोना के रूप में रहती है तो that is money out of the system, that is money that people can't lend and borrow ---- लोग काला धन की बात करते हैं, मैं सुनहरा धन की बात करना चाहुँगा। सुनहरे धनको banking system में ले आओ तो उससे ग्रोथ रेट में २% तक तो मदत हो ही जावेगी (कपिल का शब्द).

मोदी और सौर्य उर्जा

ये देखो मोदी ने क्या किया: मोदी और सौर्य उर्जा: From 3 Gigawatts To 100 .

मोदी ने ढाका में कहा बंगलादेश और भारत के बीच की बोर्डर डिस्प्यूट जो solve किया, उसके लिए उनको और बंगलादेश के प्रधान मंत्री को नोबेल पुरस्कार मिलना चाहिए। सही कहा। पिछले पचास साल में solve नहीं हुइ थी, मोदी ने युँ solve कर दिया। दुनिया को चाहिए मोदी को नोबेल पुरस्कार दे और कहे, आप ने करना है कि इजराइल और पलेस्टाइन को भी इस बात पर मदत कर दो और एक और नोबेल पुरस्कार ले जाओ उसके बाद।

न जाने जमीन में क्या है --- देश के भितर लैंड बिल पर उतना ज्यादा उठापठक, इजराइल और पलेस्टाइन के बीच विश्व राजनीति हिला देनेवाली टेंशन।

एक और नोबेल पुरस्कार मोदी को मिलनी चाहिए। अल गोर ने कुछ किया नहीं, काम तो कुछ किया नहीं, सिर्फ एक डाक्यूमेंट्री फिल्म बनाई। और उस पर उनको नोबेल पुरस्कार मिल गया। मेरे को कोइ शिकायत नहीं। लेकिन मोदी ने तो काम किया है। १०० गीगावाट कोई मजाक नहीं। ये तो सिर्फ शुरुवात है --- आगे जा के राजस्थान में इतनी ज्यादी सुरजकी रोशन है, ५०० गीगावाट और बड़े मजे में आ सकती है --- ५०० आ सकती है तो १,००० भी आ सकती है। कोयले को phase out करो। लोगों को फेंफड़े में दिक्कत हो रही है।

Does The World Government Have To Await A Total Spread Of Democracy?

The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights is a pretty amazing document, the Magna Carta of our times. I envision a world government that has two chambers. In the lower chamber's voting right is in direct proportion to a country's population. In the upper chamber each country's voting right is in direct proportion to its GDP. Each member country pays one per cent of its GDP as the price for membership in the world body. And this need not wait until every country has become a democracy. This, on the other hand, will expedite the spread of democracy. This also will bring about rule of law between nations just like there is rule of law within nations. That will make room for a dramatic downsizing of the US defense budget by over 90%. God knows America needs to pay down on its debt. And if that cut is spread over 10 years, it need not be painful. The resources can go elsewhere, like in the energy sector.

The right to self determination is as fundamental as the right to free speech, the freedom of religion. What that means is all peoples have a right to federalism, and federalism means you can vote to secede at any time. On the other hand, a country could also vote to join another country and become its newest state, granted that country's legislature's accepts. Mexico might choose to join America. Or not. Mexico might wish, America might not so desire. Nepal might choose to join India, as might Burma, perhaps Bangladesh.

The good news is, this might be the only way to tackle Climate Change and avert catastrophe. Unless humanity can create a genuine world government, that is a sign humanity can not come together even in the face of certain disaster.

मोदी, नीतिश, नेपाल, नेपालके मधेसी और मैं

मोदी को मैं अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय स्तर पर मदत करूँ। नीतिश को मैं भारतमें राष्ट्रिय स्तर पर मदत करूँ। और मोदी और नीतिश मेरे को नेपाल में मधेसी स्वाभिमान के मुद्दे पर मदत करें। That would be a good trade. I don't grow my own food either.

काठमाण्डु के बन्दर -- नेपालको दुनिया का सबसे गरीब देश बनाके रखे हुवे हैं, लेकिन उनको लगता है हम तो भारत और चीन को एक दुसरे के विरुद्ध प्रयोग कर के मजे ले रहे हैं। लिपुलेक ले लो, और भी बहुत कुछ ले लो। लेना पड़े तो सारा देश ले लो।

भारत और चीन को एक दुसरे की सख्त जरुरत है। जिस तरह भारत में हिन्दु और मुसलमान दोनों को एक दुसरे के साथ नहीं गरीबी के साथ लड़ना चाहिए, उसी तरह अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर चीन और भारतको गरीबी के साथ लड़ना चाहिए। दोनों के मिलिट्री इस्टैब्लिशमेंट में कुछ extreme लोग हैं, वो थोड़ा बहुत नौटंकी तो करेंगे ही, अपना रोल कम न पड़ जाए, इस बहाने। उनको देशकी नहीं अपनी पड़ी है।

नेपालके मधेसी सिर्फ One person one vote democracy और Federalism माँग रहे हैं ----- लेकिन उनको disenfranchise करने की साजिश हो रही है।
